CFTEA is excited to be part of a collaborative program providing materials and assessments for ABA’s Today’s Teller curriculum! This unique opportunity brings financial institutions from the Portland, Maine area in an engaging twelve-week course that runs five days a week!

A huge congratulations to the fourth graduating class of this program that supports qualified participants in their transition to life in the United States. The class of sixteen completed the program while working full-time and raising their families.

Area organizations such as Goodwill and Prosperity Maine joined forces with thirty guest speakers from nine financial institutions to provide 150 hours of instruction that included customer service, teller training, digital skills, personal finance, and job search strategies.

As industry leaders of community engagement and support the following financial institutions provided funding and guest speakers with real-world examples that supplemented the CFTEA materials:

  • Androscoggin Bank

  • Bank of America

  • Bangor Savings Bank

  • Bath Savings

  • Camden National Bank

  • cPort Credit Union

  • Gorham Savings Bank

  • Infinity Federal Credit Union

  • Norway Savings Bank

Seeking the success of those new to the community highlights the amazing example of financial institutions collaborating and as Todd Beacham of Bank of America noted: “While we are competitors in the marketplace, we are pulling on the same rope in support of the community.” The new graduates were already highly skilled in their home countries and now continued their education to grow within the banking industry.
