At Maine Community Bank, we prioritize the ongoing education and development of our employees to ensure they have the knowledge and skills necessary to best protect both our customers and our institution. This is why we eagerly took advantage of CFTEA’s free Fighting Fraud: Top Scams Targeting Our Nation’s Seniors course. Last year it provided 22 of our employees with critical insight into the ever-evolving scams that older generations face today.

We saw an opportunity to further enhance our team’s skills and offer them the chance to complete the Frontline Fraud Detection Certificate. We were thrilled to have 16 team members successfully complete the certificate in 2024, strengthening our fraud prevention efforts.

The feedback from those who completed the certificate was positive, many highlighting how relevant and applicable the content was to their daily responsibilities. One employee shared, “The Frontline Fraud Detection Certificate provided very relevant information in accordance with my position. It opened different perspectives I hadn’t considered before, and I fully recommend this certificate to others.”

Another participant noted, “I really enjoyed this certificate. The information was incredibly relevant to my position. Since we deal with fraud firsthand, I felt it would benefit many employees. It’s great that the bank continues to offer fraud training and keeps us updated on new scams and techniques we may encounter.”

By starting with CFTEA’s free Fighting Fraud course, our employees gained essential knowledge that sparked further interest in advancing their fraud prevention skills. The accessibility of the free training lowered the barrier to entry and allowed us to pursue the full certificate. This approach not only empowered the individuals but also strengthened the bank’s ability to recognize suspicious activity, take action, and better protect our customers and our organization.

Thank you, CFTEA, for your invaluable support in strengthening our team’s foundation to fraud prevention!
