The questions usually come quickly. Where do I start? What is expected of me? Am I ready for that kind of responsibility? How do I represent my organization well in the community?

CFTEA is opening that door a little wider.

We are unlocking nonprofit board service to better equip professionals to serve their communities with confidence, and it starts with our new course, Essentials of Board Service.

Whether you are looking to represent your organization, have a real desire to serve, or are already sitting on a board and want to do it well, this course helps you understand what matters and how to show up ready.

Because this is about more than adding a line to your resume.

Board service gives you the chance to build skills you may not get in your day to day role. It expands your professional network. It gives you a clearer view of what it takes to guide and sustain an organization.

And here is something worth thinking about. Young professionals under 30 make up only 2% of board members. That is not because they cannot serve. It is because they are not always invited or do not see the path.

There is room at the table. And there should be.

If you have ever considered it, this is a strong place to start.
