If you had told me when I was in school, I would have a career in banking, I would have told you that you were crazy. Looking back on my five years at TowneBank, I am happy to say I can’t imagine myself anywhere else!
When my colleague and fellow CFTEA Board member, Julie Stevens, reached out about joining the CFTEA Board, it was an immediate yes. I was so excited to join an organization whose mission is to empower financial institution employees and to help them grow their careers. As someone who had zero experience in banking, I know how steep the learning curve can be when learning this industry. To know I can serve in an organization that helps people like me thrive in this career field is so rewarding.
During my two years serving on the CFTEA Board, I have truly enjoyed helping connect colleagues at my institution with CFTEA courses to help them grow in their current roles or expand into a new one. I enjoy working with Andrew, Tammy, and the rest of the Board and council members to ensure the organization delivers affordable and quality course materials. CFTEA is always there to help the banking veterans, and the “newbies” learn. As my grandfather, a lifelong learner, always said –you’re never too old to learn something new.
