CFTEA is an organization that helps Learning and Development professionals come together to support each other and brainstorm ways to address learning needs in our field. They have become the first place I look when I need to provide training to someone in my organization and they are the first place I suggest to others when they are looking to fill a training gap. The network I’m a part of is the first place I reach out to when I have a challenge to work through and they are always there to offer ideas. There is a place for everyone at CFTEA – whether you’re a student, council member, or a board member.

Prior to starting my career in Learning and Development eight years ago I had never heard of the Center for Training and Education Alliance. I attended my first out-of-state training conference a few months later not really knowing anyone. Fortunately for me, Andrew (Executive Director of CFTEA) reached out and invited me to meet with him along with some peers who were also attending the conference. This group was the beginning of my Learning and Development network, and I’m still connected with them today. CFTEA is an organization that brings people together so they can learn and support their organization’s learning initiatives.

Since that first meeting with Andrew, my partnership with the organization has grown and evolved. At first, I worked with CFTEA to find training solutions for the learners within my organization. Then I joined the council and was able to work on projects and develop relationships with others in the banking industry who also worked in Learning and Development. Through these relationships I have learned from my peers and developed some great ideas for my organization. Finally, I joined the board last year and, soon after, the executive committee. These opportunities have given me even more time to spend with those same people I met during that first training conference. My network has expanded because of the people I have met and learned from through CFTEA.
