CFTEA Council Spotlight
Sarah Doak | AVP, Portfolio Manager
Bangor Savings

CFTEA is thrilled to welcome Sarah Doak to the CFTEA Regional Advisory Council.

Reflecting on what drew her to the CFTEA council, Sarah shared, “As someone who did not set out to work in banking, I have seen firsthand the impact of industry-specific education can have on an individual’s career when such resources are made accessible. It was through training, like CFTEA, that gave me a solid start in my career of commercial credit and now in portfolio management. Having experienced the career growth and opportunities, like CFTEA can provide, I am eager to give back and hope to promote meaningful tools to others in my network and community.”

Bangor Savings’ community approach empowers employees to get involved in leadership opportunities at non-profit organizations like CFTEA. “Bangor Savings is an immense advocate for community involvement, further education, and giving back in whatever capacity our teams are able. All employees are encouraged to get involved in our communities locally or within banking. The open communication found at Bangor Savings focused on opportunities and ongoing encouragement was how I came to hear of CFTEA and the council from Brea Hatch, a BSB colleague of mine and CFTEA Board Member.”

Sarah’s top priority in this role is to bring her specific perspective and background to the group. “As an individual who works in Commercial Banking, as well as someone who is still in the early years of my banking career, I hope to be able to provide a different perspective from my fellow council members. I look forward to being an advocate for the work being done by CFTEA.”

To maintain affordable and accessible education, CFTEA volunteers work hard to maintain all course material, so they are relevant and valuable. Sarah sees this as a powerful ongoing challenge. “In my short time in banking, a key lesson I have come to learn is the industry is perpetually evolving with new data, practices, legislation, and available technologies. This makes how we do things a fluid situation. I think it takes a meaningful and persistent effort on the part of CFTEA to keep information up to date and applicable to those who look to the organization for their continued education.”

In this role, Sarah is looking forward to collaborating and learning from her fellow council members while contributing in a meaningful way to CFTEA. “I hope to be a CFTEA advocate to those in my network, as well as in the community by spreading the word of CFTEA’s resources.”

Council members provide a strong voice to CFTEA with learning on all sides as opportunities and challenges are discussed and appreciated. CFTEA values adding Sarah as she joins board member, Brea Hatch from Bangor Savings to our inclusive learning community! Welcome aboard, Sarah!
