Outgoing Board Member Spotlight: Lisa Thomas, Maine Community Bank I began my banking career in 1992, and during my first 10 years, I was encouraged to take a variety of CFTEA courses to expand my banking knowledge. I’m deeply grateful to all my managers and the CFTEA staff for keeping me on track as I completed several certificates and diplomas. Over the years, I’ve learned that continued education is essential to stay up to date with the constant changes in the banking industry. Even with 33 years of experience, I still recognize how those early years built a solid foundation for my understanding of banking.

After moving through various roles within the bank, in 2007, I was asked to consider becoming a Learning and Development Officer. One of my first steps was to reach out to CFTEA to explore what we could offer in-house. Andrew and Tammy have been invaluable partners, ensuring we’re getting the right courses and always providing support as we navigate our needs.

I joined the Board in 2022, I’ve found it incredibly rewarding to work alongside a passionate team of professionals who are dedicated to helping others learn and grow, as well as the amazing networking opportunities it’s provided. If you’re looking for a reasonable, educational, and impactful experience, I highly recommend CFTEA—you won’t be disappointed. If you’re unsure where to start, I’d suggest beginning with Principles of Banking or Legal Foundation in Banking.
